Passman Leonard – accountants who care about their community
Business is business, right? When you are a business owner, the most important thing is profit. Or is it?
Are you an eco-conscious organisation who wants to put your staff and the planet at heart of what you do?
At Passman Leonard, we like to think we are socially responsible accountants.
That means we actively look for ways to improve the environment whilst providing our services to clients.
Paperless accounting
Since 2019, Passman Leonard has been creating a paperless office for the benefit of clients and the environment. All new clients use our online software packages, including full scanning capability which means we no longer create paper files. In addition, all our existing clients are being moved over to online accounting using Xero and DEXT for receipt capture. This project has meant a lot of hours at the scanner moving paper backup into electronic versions, but it has the huge advantage that everyone can access any files from any location in the world.
Recycling
Our paperless project made our office filing system redundant, so we now regularly donate files, shelves and cupboards to local community projects who need our surplus storage and filing cabinets. If you know anyone who could benefit, please put them in touch with us.
Charity efforts
Puja raised over £700 for the Bliss charity by running a half-marathon in August 2021. She says:
‘With long hours helping clients to the best we could with the various grants and claims, running has helped me stay focused during lockdown. Running helped me get ready for the next day. I also wanted a challenge after completing park runs, a few 10km runs and 10 mile runs. So I decided to sign up for a half marathon and completed the London Landmark Half Marathon in August 2021. It gave me great purpose to run for Charity Bliss which is very personal to me as it helps with parents with babies who are born prematurely.’
Paul raised £600 for Phabkids by cycling in the Prudential London to Surrey 100 mile ride.
‘After spending years of cycling in this great city dodging the traffic on London’s streets, I was drawn to being able to pelt it through town on closed streets and out in to the beautiful Surrey countryside. Now being a dad of two, I’m so glad I chose a children’s charity to raise funds for as they do great work for the community’.
Neil and Paul organised a group 3 Peaks Challenge raising over £4,600 for various charities.
‘This challenge was to climb the 3 highest mountains in the UK, covering 27 miles and climbing in total nearly 2 miles in height all within a tight 24 hour time limit. This proved tougher than any of us who took part expected, mentally as well as physically. We are very proud of the amounts we raised for some amazing charities that were close to each of the participants hearts’
Plan is to do another big charity challenge this year or next.
